Principal Pied in the Face for Charity
Sports teams, cheerleaders, homecoming royalty nominees and whipped cream graced the Canyon Springs High School gymnasium floor for this year’s Mardi Gras themed Homecoming Assembly. The event was filled with upbeat and high energy performances that all led up to Assistant Principal Lolo James being pied in the face for charity.
During the week of Oct. 7, student council passed out five buckets, representing the five Canyon principals, asking students and staff to donate a dollar to the bucket of the principal they wanted to see pied. Each dollar earned a raffle ticket and a chance to be the one to pie the principal who received the most donations. All the proceeds were donated to The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.
Earning $40, James got bashed in the face with a pie-pan full of whipped cream.
Donating $6, Spanish teacher Teresita Perez won the raffle and delivered the shot.
“I didn’t hear my name being called telling me I won,” said Perez. “The students were looking for me the whole time.”
Student council was able to raise a total of $140.
